This Seattle backyard was designed to be a place for the entire family to enjoy. The layout maximizes the functional spaces for respite, entertainment, and urban farming. Each element is elevated with refined details and material selections. 

As a Landscape designer for Pacifica Landscapes, my role is to lead the design and manage the execution of the installation. 

Designed under the direction of Richard Landry and Art Luna Garden, this magnificent Spanish style beach house exudes beauty and tranquility.  It was exciting to be a part of this project from early conceptual phases through completion.  The hand-picked specimen trees and shrubbery gave the home a sense of maturity, adding to the timeless feel of the house.  After the initial design, I continued to design and manage installations at the client's request. This included maintaining aesthetics through the growing seasons and changing coastal landscape.

The owner's own rustic modern aesthetics, became a reality with the complete remodel of this 1970's home.  The original layout of the home created a nestled entry garden--a completely private escape in the backyard.  The new design, conceived under Art Luna Garden consisted of an allée of mature olive trees that joined the two spaces to create a cohesive and serene garden. 

The Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden is the largest of its kind dedicated to California native plants. The Johnson's Oval is a space that was underutilized for decades. Our team, at Terra Design, saw its potential to transform it into a beautiful public community space.  Our design highlighted the site conditions while using drought tolerant native plants.  The space is now an active patron retreat and event venue.

The client's artistic nature led this design to be re-imagined as a whimsical garden of the modern and classic regency style. The geometric pattern of high and low, small and large topiary gives the center courtyard the prominent stature that it commands from all angles inside the house.
